One of the simplest things you can do to help police recover stolen machinery is to keep a clear record of its identity, especially serial numbers or VIN plates.

Take 5 Minutes today to photograph:

• The serial number or VIN plate.

• Any manufacturer or model identification plates.

• Registration plates (where applicable).

• Any unique markings, modifications, or security markings.

Store the photos somewhere easy to access, such as your phone, cloud storage, or email. Should the worst happen, you will have easy and quick access to the information the police need.

Without a serial number, stolen equipment is often recorded simply as "silver twin axle trailer" or "green ride on mower," making it much harder for police up and down the country to identify and return property it to its rightful owner.
